It had been a long, arduous journey. From high up in the Andes, above the tree line, the bird had left his childhood home in search of entertainment and adventure
It was the mid-1990s when the bird landed on Gerard Douplein.
It was late afternoon, cold and bleak. His feathers were soaked and his whole body ached. Fortunately, there were lights burning in the café on the corner.
He went inside and a warm blanket fell over him. He refreshed himself at the bar and had a whale of a time, drinking and eating his fill, and making friends aplenty until deep into the night.
He knew it straight away: This was his new home! He would never see his family again. After all, he had a new family…
THE LAGER BIRDS
Pilsvogel is located in the middle of the trendy De Pijp district, close to the Heineken Experience and the Albert Cuyp Market, surrounded by numerous nice boutiques.
Besides delicious tapas, Pilsvogel is also known for its excellent lunch and tapas. Pilsvogel's interior has been beautifully redecorated, inspired by Gaudí. The fountain in the toilet is world-renowned.
Pilsvogel has a beautiful, lush, green, and heated terrace that is always busy. On Friday and Saturday evenings, Pilsvogel usually turns into a hot, sweaty little dance venue.
